Change the Trajectory of Your Day

Apr 04, 2021

Because we are purpose-driven beings, we continually cycle through periods of questioning who we are, what we want, and how we want to live.

So I invite you to lean on your practice as if it is a lifeline...as if it holds the answers to all of your questions...because it does.

When you come to your practice with intention and commitment, you develop a sacred connection with your unique perspective and innate gifts. You also tap into your inner wisdom which lives in your cells from previous generations and also comes from your own lived experience.

Everything you need is inside of you. And you have the ability to access your wisdom through your practice.

And you only need a few minutes a day to access this vast expanse within you. 5 minutes on your mat is enough to change the trajectory of your day and, overtime, your life.

You will find those precious 5+ minutes most reliably in the morning.  Beginning your day with your practice infuses every remaining minute of your day with a perspective that can elevate each area of your life.  As Robin Sharma says.."we cannot do good until we feel good".  Start your day feeling good (clear, purposeful, aligned) and you will be a better leader, parent, and human being.

Below are 4 tactics to help you get up earlier:

  1. Go to Bed Earlier:  You can't wake up early for your practice if you don't go to bed early. Plan ahead and determine what time you need to wake up so you'll have enough room in your morning for a 5-20 minute practice, then count backward, giving yourself seven to nine hours to sleep before that.
  2. Prepare the Night Before:  Before you go to bed, get in the mindset that you'll be getting up early to do your practice. Prepare by setting out your clothes, mat, journal, etc. so you'll be ready to simply get out of bed and get started. This will mentally prepare you for your morning practice, and reduce the difficulty of getting started in the morning.
  3. Don’t Lounge in Bed After Your Alarm Clock Goes Off:  Jump out of bed and start your day. The more time you lie in bed after the alarm clock goes off, the greater the likelihood that the chatter of your mind will say something like “Stay in bed. Sleep a bit more. You deserve it.”
  4. Keep the Same Schedule on Weekends:  Your natural inclination will likely be to sleep in on Saturdays and Sundays. This actually disrupts your body’s natural rhythms and will make it harder to wake up early during the week. For best results, keep that wake-up time the same no matter which day of the week it is.

If you are craving more space, time, or understanding of who you are and what you want, then commit to your practice.  Commit to waking earlier to feed your mind and nourish your soul.

Remember, your practice is your lifeline. Step onto your mat and experience your power.

Love,

Amanda
